I simply wanted to make a small comment so as to express gratitude to you for all the stunning ways you are giving out at this site. My prolonged internet look up has finally been rewarded with extremely good information to go over with my friends and family. I 'd admit that most of us visitors actually are truly fortunate to dwell in a magnificent website with so many perfect professionals with very beneficial tactics. I feel very blessed to have seen your web page and look forward to plenty of more fabulous times reading here. Thanks a lot once again for a lot of things.

I can just see you out there smushing all the tiny grasshoppers! Maybe you should try Gail's suggestion. The UF article said something about Permethrin too.

The grasshoppers are small and look to be all green, and I think rather slow. They sit on leaves in the morning and evening. The only effective control is to smush them between two fingers....and then it is difficult to see anything but a very small green slime. At least my reflexes are better than theirs.

If your little grasshoppers are black with a yellow or red stripe on their hind leg...I think you'll soon have bigger critters but a smaller problem. I believe those little guys grow up into the huge yellow grasshoppers called Eastern Lubbers. They don't eat as much once they're grown up. Here's a UF article on them. They suggest keeping tall grass mown down and maybe picking them off by hand and tossing them in a bucket of soapy water. http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/orn/lubber.htm

Not sure about grasshoppers. But wanted to put out a warning... we had some pretty bad mosquito problems, so sprayed the yard with Cutters Bug=Free Backyard on a hose end sprayer (contains Permethrin). Well, the wind kicked up and some must have hit my trees. Most are ok, but may have lost my maple and maple forest, seems as if it is deadly to them. Really did a good job on the mosquitos, though! don't know if it will kill grasshoppers

I went to the exhibit opening. John's (and Sue's) bonsai looked fabulous! There were about 7 kimono in the exhibit including one very fancy wedding kimono, two others with gold embroidery, and a young boy's "baptismal" kimono. There were also several haori (kimono jackets), a couple yukata (summer kimono), and one really nice obi belt. The woodblock prints are exceptional as well. I highly recommend the exhibit and encourage you all to go out and support John's presentation!

Other than "Yum!"...maybe you can talk to the folks at Keel & Curley Winery near Plant City. They grow blueberries for their signature wine and might be a useful source of horticultural information.

Esther again in her other personna (Admin account). I've updated the blog Theme so there'd be a Home button somewhere to get you back out of a post once you'd gotten down into it. I'm a little happier now.
